POLICY
NHS Boards were given flexibility within the statutory guidance to develop CHPs to suit local circumstance and match community needs. CHPs are at the heart of delivering local services and are therefore an essential tool to delivering policy aims. The policy documents outlined in this section describe the overall strategic direction for NHS Scotland and should be considered when developing community services in your local area.
CHPs influence a whole spectrum of health and community care services. Details of specific policy initiatives can be found on the Shifting the Balance of Care website. These initiatives range from action plans to reduce smoking to providing outcomes for alcohol and drug dependency.
